Mycosis Fungoides 01 In the Beginning

 My husband has Mycosis Fungoides.

When were first told of the diagnosis, our first thoughts were "huh"? What the hell is Mycosis Fungoides? Well, in a nutshell, it's cancer...a type of T-Cell Lymphoma. But more about that later.

This blog will bring you up to speed on the last three years of our lives and then continue with the ongoing journey. Although this is a serious disease, here's some humor along the way ~ because that's just the way we are.

So, let's go back in time...to a time before rashes, tumors, doctors, and medicines.

This all started back in 2017-ish. Tim was starting to itch a lot. A WHOLE lot. At first we thought it was some kind of allergic reaction. We had recently changed the type of dryer sheets that we used so we spent the entire weekend rewashing all of his clothes, the sheets, and the towels. Oh yeh, THAT was fun. Unfortunately, it did not help.

I can't remember when he finally went to his doctor but the itching got bad enough that he finally went. I think that the doctor prescribed some creams, thinking it was eczema. It didn't help.

His doc referred him to a local dermatologist. By this time, the "rash" was pretty much all over his body. People noticed it. I remember he went to see his Mom and Dad in North Carolina and of course, they went to the gun range. There were some old guys that helped out at the range and one of them would talk to him a little about it. He thought it was psoriasis.

The dermatologist checked it out and thought it was psoriasis too. And then began his long journey in incorrect diagnosis and failed meds, as well as the costs associated with it.

Until next time...
